XPS Blueboard & PinkBoard

Why Recycled XPS?

Extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam is a rigid insulation that’s also formed with polystyrene polymer, but manufactured using an extrusion process, and is often manufactured with a distinctive color to identify product brand. XPS is more common for below-grade waterproofing and roof systems where insulation is placed over the roof membrane (IRMA, or inverted roof membrane assembly). The IRMA concept is also utilized for insulating building walls, where polystyrene insulation is placed over a barrier membrane, with the siding or cladding system installed over the insulation layer. XPS insulation in building construction offers great flexibility, compatibility, and thermal efficiency for use at all areas of a building envelope.

EPS Insulation

Product

Why Recycled EPS?

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam is a closed-cell insulation that’s manufactured by “expanding” a polystyrene polymer; the appearance is typically a white foam plastic insulation material (the likes of which can be found as merchandise packaging). One of the reasons EPS is such a great insulation is that it is 95% air. This makes EPS foam very light and easy to transport, but it takes lot of space in both distribution and in landfills. Recycling removes it from landfills and puts it back to use again.

Pros:

  • Recyclable products that assist with LEED points.

  • Won’t support mold or mildew growth.

  • Long-term, stable R-value.

  • Can be placed below grade.

  • Can be utilized for inverted assemblies (over membrane)

PolyIso Insulation Cover Board

Why PolyIso?

Polyisocyanurate Insulation Board – Polyisocyanurate (ISO) Insulation Board is manufactured from liquid polyisocyanurate foam sandwiched between fiberglass reinforced organic felt, fiberglass mat (inorganic), or foil facers. A high R-Value insulation, ISO is used widely in low-slope roof assemblies. A study by the Energy Service Provider Group (ESPG) showed ISO insulation could save tens of thousands of dollars in installed costs, when compared to other plastic foam roof insulation materials.
